A Song for Peter

Written by Peter’s old friend The B.A.R in 2000, this little ditty sums up all the Peter is: an artist, a friend, a ‘bushy’ and ultimately, a legend.

Feel free to hum this catchy tune quietly to yourself; we know you won’t be able to help it!

Now P.H Hill’s an artist, among many things,

Working hard to master tasks, whenever thrown to him.

But there’s one task that’s come easy; it’s his natural ability.

He’s an artist of distinction, with unique quality.

He was born at Scone in NSW, and schooled in Merrylands,

While still a lad he had a dream, to be a station-hand.

At the tender age of sixteen, his working life’s begun,

He rolled his swag and headed off, toward the setting sun.

He’s a legendary artist, he’s know though the land,

His painting tell a story, each and every one so grand.

From his famous Clydesdales, to his fancy dunny seats,

He’s P.J.Hill the artist, a nicer bloke you’d never meet.

He can talk about most anything; he’s from the “Old Bush School”

In shearing sheds and mustering camps, dug graves and fencing too.

Hunting crocodiles for a living, on the Finnis river sides,

And worked the plains of Marraki, for buffalo meat and hides.

A self-taught Artist totally, his first was done in oils,

As a nineteen-year old stockman, between working stock and soil.

His paintings hand in pride of place, in galleries and in halls,

A house wouldn’t be complete, without a P.J. on their walls.

A true Bushman using paint and brush, to set the scene for you

And capture moods on canvas, as most Artists strive to do.

When the framing’s finished, and your painting you receive

It’s a masterpiece from P.J. Hill, satisfaction guaranteed.

He’s a legendary Artist, he’s known through out the land,

His paintings tell a story, each and every one so grand.

From his famous Clydesdales, to his fancy dunny seats,

Hi’s P.J. Hill the Artist, a nicer bloke you’d never meet.
